Annual English courses and exam preparation

The IH Team is made up of international, highly qualified English teachers, backed by the long experience of Cambridge English Assessment.

How to enrol 2026 fees

We run annual English courses for all levels, online and face-to-face, for children, teenagers and adults.

They are Cambridge exam preparation courses: First, Advanced and Proficiency. International House has its own assessments twice a year, and students do not need to sit the exams to move up a level. We encourage students to develop good study strategies, both for their English classes and for life in general.

Our Courses

Everything you need to know

We work on all language skills: reading, writing, listening, grammar and speaking. Only English is spoken in class, in a friendly, dynamic and productive atmosphere, with role-plays, information gap activities, articles, recordings and videos from British and American television.

After Upper Intermediate 2, Advanced 2 and Proficiency 2, students can sit the FCE, CAE and CPE, with a one-week intensive preparation course at the end of the year.

  • Students can choose online or face-to-face classes, but cannot alternate between the two.
  • Once enrolled, they can change group, timetable or format, as long as there are places available.
  • Online courses stay online all year.
  • Both formats have the same quality, syllabus, methodology, books and assessment.
  • Our priority is to run face-to-face courses following current Buenos Aires City Government protocols; if there are any safety concerns, the institute may switch back to online classes.
  • Maximum number of students: 13.
  • Face-to-face classes take place at Vuelta de Obligado 1808, 5th floor.
  • Online classes are held live on Zoom, with the camera on, from a computer or laptop (not a phone or tablet).

Courses run all year: they start in the first week of March and finish in the last week of November. You can join at any time of the year. There is a two-week break in July.

Twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays, or Tuesdays and Thursdays), 90 minutes per class. Classes start on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 March. Some courses start in April; in that case, enrolled students receive an email with the date.

Timetable availability depends on the level. Groups may close when many students change timetable; in that case we try to place students in other groups.

  • Students are assessed all year through Continual Assessment, plus two internal tests: in June and at the end of the year.
  • For children and teenagers there are parents' meetings twice a year; teachers are available all year round.
  • In June and November we give out reports showing progress in speaking, writing, listening and reading.
  • The end-of-year report shows the level for the following year.
  • At the end of the year, children receive a certificate/diploma.

The first step is a free placement test with no commitment: ask for the link at belgrano@ih-buenosaires.com. With the result we arrange an online oral interview with a teacher, and then let you know the available timetables.

Once the enrolment fee has been transferred, the student is enrolled and receives joining instructions, the book list and general information. If the student is under 12, please email us to request an interview with the children's coordinator.

Communication is the priority in our courses for children. Through games and role-plays we encourage children to express their ideas in English. Classes have a maximum of 12 students.

We organise theatre outings and our much-loved Friday Clubs with special themes: the environment, gardening, Halloween, football and more.

Face-to-face classes on Mondays and Wednesdays from 16:50 to 17:50 at Vuelta de Obligado 1808, 5th floor. Teachers meet the children from 16:40 on the ground floor and take them up to the 5th floor, and back down at the end of the class.

Levels: Play Group, Starters, Beginners, Elementary, Intermediate Kids 1 and Intermediate Kids 2; children then move on to the teenage groups.
